That they punish much more severely all those who abandon and/or mistreat their pets

Cats, dogs (all animals, in fact) are the main animals that are left behind during a move, a separation or simply because those who had them are "tired of their toy". Now that society recognizes that these animals are not furniture but sentient, intelligent and emotional beings, it is time to adapt the law accordingly.

In the '60s, '70s and even in the 1980s, you could hit your child to educate him, to make him obey. The method was shown not to work and to cause serious personality and behavior problems in children who have been physically abused. Now, it is socially and morally unacceptable to hit a child to make him obey or to punish him! But it's still allowed to "kick butt" your dog or cat! It still happens every day that cats, dogs are beaten, abandoned, left behind during a move or simply because the humans who picked them up as babies grew tired of them over time. They don't sterilize them and put them on the street!!! All this has to change! Make microchipping mandatory *-but also accessible to low-income people-* and when we find a stray cat/alone in a deserted apartment and/or visibly abused/sick, we track down the person who has it, make the acquisition and we let him be punished! No finger slapping, no! Finger slapping does not work, we have already experienced it, it is ineffective! Punish irresponsible owners where it hurts! YOUR PORTFOLIO!!! And, after a recurrence: Prison! community work etc.
