Addressed to: Government of Libya and 1 more
It seems to me that this act is illegal and inhuman, hunting has rules and strategies, not the devastation and indiscriminate killing of these poor beings unable to defend themselves. We must mobilize to stop this heinous criminal greed.
In Libya, unregulated hunting has left three types of Libyan gazelle on the brink of extinction. The problem is most acute in the south of the country, near the borders of Chad and Algeria, the main habitat of gazelles 'Rhim' and 'Dorcas'. The gazelle "Oueddan", which inhabits the mountains of Haruj, in central Libya, is also said to be facing extinction.
For many years, under the old regime, the hunting of gazelles was banned. However, since the revolution, the practice has taken off as a sport and, at present, is completely deregulated.
The seriousness of the problem has only recently come to light, after videos on YouTube showed people hunting in places across the Libyan desert.
We need to end this killing, do not wait for three more species to disappear to do something that will no longer have a solution.
