Support the project of the "Employment Law for the Elderly"

Addressed to: Congress of the Republic of Colombia and 2 more

Colombia has two major chronic social problems: unemployment (19.8% in April 2020 according to DANE, now exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic) and old-age pension, since the percentage of older adults who manage to contribute the number of weeks required to obtain it.

For these reasons, I consider the draft "Law on the employment of the elderly", presented by the Representative to the House, José Daniel López, very important.

This law would stimulate employment opportunities for those who are old enough to retire but have not been able to contribute the weeks required to do so, offering private and state companies that hire women over 57 years old and men over 62 years old, a deduction to his income tax of 120% of his labor costs, provided that at least 2.5% of his payroll is made up of non-pensioned elderly people who remain linked by the company for at least one year.

The problem is that the ordinary sessions of Congress end on June 20, 2020, which leaves the project the narrow margin of a week to be scheduled, without counting that they have other projects of great importance, such as the life sentence for rapists.

But, the "Employment Law for the Elderly" is also of great social importance, which is why I ask for the collaboration of all members of Sosvox to help us promote it by signing this petition, so that Congress includes it in its current agenda and be approved before June 20, 2020.

Thank you.
