SOS from MAR MENOR (Murcia, Spain) we want drastic measures to be taken to protect the Mar Menor
people signed. Let's get to 5,000!
Addressed to: Government of Spain and 5 more
LET'S EMBRACE MAR MENOR from all parts of Spain, not just from Murcia.
We are going to ensure compliance with the MAR MENOR PROTECTION LAW (urgent measures to guarantee environmental sustainability and recovery of the environment of the Mar Menor). For three decades, administrations have allowed their deterioration and without having refined responsibilities in the regional government and in the Segura Hydrographic Confederation (CHS). A crystalline Mar Menor full of seahorses turned into a so-called sad Green Soup for prioritizing an unnatural economy.

- Thousands upon thousands of dead fish and other marine life.
- More than 1500 illegal wells in the Campo de Cartagena continue without being closed.
- Irrigated agriculture is still allowed in rainfed areas while the Campo de Cartagena aquifer is filled with nitrates, etc.
- What was a wonderful and unique ECOSYSTEM is a green soup, without applying ZERO NITRATES to the Mar Menor.
- Without a Mining Waste Cleaning Plan, the remains of the mines continue to pollute, the rains drag the waste to the Mar Menor and the fields.
- The CHS still does not control the desalination plants and their residues, storm wells are contaminated and end up in the Mar Menor, there is no treatment, and the ramblas are not dumps for agricultural and industrial waste pipelines.
- The sewage sanitation of localized points continues without closing.
- Urban planning licenses continue to be authorized without being passive "sustainable" homes.
- DANAS continue to destroy homes, businesses, for not having planned infrastructures for collecting water in the towns and these waters continue to end up in the Mar Menor.
- Exemplary sanctions are missing in discharges, be they Agricultural, Residential or Industrial.
- Total NON-SURVEILLANCE in wastewater discharges.
For employment in the tourism sector, sustainable fishing and agriculture and above all for the health of all and future generations: LET US COMPLY WITH THE LAW
LET'S EMBRACE THE MAR MENOR between all the points of the peninsula.
