Running water for everyone! A health and economic problem!

Addressed to: Government of Senegal

For almost a year, the Ouakam district, like other districts in Dakar, has suffered water cuts of more than 10 hours a day, almost every day. The lack of potable / running water is undoubtedly greater within the country, but the deterioration of the situation in Dakar is worrying.

Since July 28, 2010, access to drinking water has been recognized as a fundamental right by the UN. In fact, drinking water is essential for a healthy life. This is all the more true in this period of the COVID 19 pandemic. The lack of running water has an impact on health, the environment and the economy, among others ...

Through this petition, we want the company that oversees the production and distribution of drinking water, Sen'eau, to give us an explanation of the situation in these unacceptably discharged neighborhoods. We want there to be a better distribution of the little available water between the different districts of the capital.

But, above all, we would like the State to give us more information about the investments and the work in progress to ensure the availability of drinking water 24 hours a day.
