It is time the global population of humans BAN the personal possession of ivory. There is only one place to get ivory, and that is from a dead elephant. That beautifully carved piece of white tusk in someone's casual display probably had to come from killing an adult senior matriarch. When she dies, that knowledge of maternity, motherhood, migration routes, watering holes, and the general preservation of her tribe are all irrevocably destroyed solely for the vanity of some wealthy showoff.
The number of elephants murdered annually for their ivory is staggering, and absolutely disgusting. If international personal possession of ivory is banned, we will remove the market, and make this murderous practice preventable.
It is time we may make any such possession as reprehensible and distasteful as possessing a human slave, and as much a crime.
Please sigh this ban asking the UN and all governments to permanently ban the personal sale, display, transportation or possession of any ivory, whether from terrestrial elephant, or sea creature.
