The United States Wildlife Service announced in a statement that by allowing elephants from Zimbabwe and Zambia to be brought as trophies, it will be able to raise funds for species conservation programs.
This change will mark a turnaround in efforts to prevent the importation of elephant prey, breaking a ban imposed by the Obama administration in 2014. The new policy applies to African elephants killed between January 2016 and December 2018.
