Jail for the man who hits his dog with a pipe or wooden stick

Addressed to: General Prosecutor's Office Of The State Of Quintana Roo and 1 more

A new case of animal abuse was documented and exposed in Cancun on the morning of this Sunday, February 11. Through social networks were released a couple of videos where a subject is observed hitting a dog repeatedly in the backyard of his home, located in Region 98 of this tourist destination.

With the help of what appears to be a pipe or wooden stick, the owner of the dog attacks the animal while it is recorded by a neighbor, who warns her about having documented the aggression.

In another video, the same subject – who wears black shorts and a red shirt and hat – appears on the patio of one of the houses and arguing with the neighbors about his behavior with the dog, “you do not have to tell me what to do with my dog in my own yard, do what you like but you do not have to mess with a dog that is already destined to die,” the subject is heard to say.

Seconds later, the neighbor says that he himself will end the life of his pet, “he escaped from the area, I’m going to kill him, I’m going to kill him, ma’am.

The women who recorded and witnessed the mistreatment of their neighbor against the dog called the authorities and specialists, who went to the home to rescue the animal and take it to the AmeriVet veterinarian where Dr. Yroel Betancourt was in charge of reviewing it medically, “He arrived in a state of shock, with hypothermia and mild injuries to the snout and gum. He also has cystitis (irritated urinary tract), he is being studied at this time to determine the cause.” The veterinarian indicated that it is a dog “malix”, between 4 and 6 years old, which is currently stable.

On the other hand, the authorities of the Department of Protection and Animal Welfare of the Benito Juárez City Council indicated that the subject will be fined (unspecified).

In accordance with the amendments made to the Penal Code in force for the State of Quintana Roo, article 179 bis establishes that, “anyone who unjustifiably and intentionally commits acts of cruelty against any animal species, causing obvious mistreatment, but not putting danger to the life of the animal, will be imposed from 6 months to a year in prison and from 25 to 50 days of minimum wage of fine”. (Noticaribe)

I ask for jail for this person, not a fine for savagely beating this animal, we do not want these cases anymore. They are going to keep happening while they get ready with money and not with a season behind bars.

No more mistreatment, jail for the animal abusers!
