For the peace of both countries and the National Sovereignty, and to avoid a massive bloodshed. This pact that the organization of the United Nations requests is a pact that contradicts the treaty of Aranjuez and at the same time the Constitution of the Dominican Republic. This merger would only take one more step towards a civil war on the island and the shedding of blood throughout the island.
We must know that the Dominican Republic has its customs, its flag, its coat of arms and its national wine, and we have our parents from the homeland of Duarte Sánchez and Mella y Luperón. We Dominicans do not accept this pact.
The two nations, both in the Dominican Republic and Haiti, have different cultures and customs, for this reason I ask President Danilo Medina to work well in favor of the Dominican Republic and not sign the pact that the United Nations wants to impose.
