Of course the figure of about 2,500 people requesting that the City Council of Getxo allocate bounded areas for dogs in the different locations that this municipality comprises, is like to reconsider this request; I know that in 2019 a petition was presented in said City Council so that the dogs could enjoy spaces to run loose without danger of being run over or that pedestrians could feel uncomfortable in the presence of these, however this proposal was totally rejected the excuses being quite lax and uncreative.
Getxo is a point that has many beaches and green areas for recreation and also invites tourism to bring their pets but nevertheless lacks safe areas for dogs, both visitors and residents, to enjoy with total security.
As a resident and owner of two dogs in Getxo, I join all these people who want our pets to run freely without prejudice to other people or themselves. When I think about the future, I visualize an inclusive environment with all kinds of people, dogs, cats, sparrows and pigeons that live in our cities, in a pleasant and respectful environment for everyone.
