Because all the animals that live there would not die and have a place to live. About 150 thousand orangutans died on Borneo Island during this century. Those who remain live threatened. Some are injured looking for shelter and food in neighboring villages; others fall malnourished, are trapped and turned into exotic pets or zoophilic fetishes. Very few manage to save their lives and their offspring when they cross paths with some group of protectionists.
Why is palm oil killing orangutans? Its population was reduced by 50% in 30 years and its survival is at risk. Another 193 species are affected by that industry.
To ban palm oil is to save the lives of hundreds of thousands of animals!
