Abolition of the peels of roosters, close fighting ranges and hatcheries

Addressed to: Congress of the Republic of Peru

It is no secret that the "galleros" are people who live off the exploitation of the cocks in fights. They make these birds fight because there are bets involved. It is not only "love of art" because in the "cockfighting" world there is a lot of money and sometimes it is clandestinely earned money since many do not pay taxes since any animal abuser can have a cock and make him fight inside his house or in a local closed. Fights are not prohibited, so if the bets are made in clandestine places can not be discovered and the side of the mistreatment of animals could not be reported as a crime. In that "business" abusers and exploiters of animals benefit, but the rooster is the only victim.

The Humane Society reports that cockfighting often goes hand in hand with crimes, such as the sale of illegal firearms, drug trafficking, and even murder. This is not surprising since money bets are so high in these "events" that they lead to discussions and shady deals. So not only for animals is that should be banned but also to reduce the crime rate and insecurity that already prevails.

A person who respects and cares for animals would never make them fight under any justification.

That the "galleros" do not deceive you by telling you that they love the roosters, that these birds live happily and that they love to fight, that they were born for that, because those are the same justifications that bullfighters use to carry out their rite of death and torture: bullfighting. A person who has a minimum of respect for animals would never expose them to a fight, to be damaged or hurt for pleasure, much less for money.

Cock fights have been re-protected and shielded, once again, through the new animal protection law, which excludes roosters. In the World the Law allows and approves mistreating and torturing them, as if they were not animals but objects, things used not only for consumption but also to be tormented to death, with the usual excuse, used more than 16 years ago by congressmen : that this barbarism is "culture". The culture of torture, can be.

But it seems that the Mafia is not satisfied only with the protection of the torture of animals in the law, but also try to declare cockfighting "intangible cultural heritage of the nation." Already in the congress there was a Bill for that purpose, presented in May 2015 by the UN "nationalist" caucus, referred to the Culture Committee and filed in March 2016, because it is only the Ministry of Culture that could declare such traditions as cultural heritage of Spanish America. However, we do not doubt that in the next governments they will present it again or these "galleros" will use other ways to continue with the same message to protect even more (if possible) their bloody "business". Finally note that the aforementioned project for its pathetic objective, was presented by the congressmen (the same one who said he was "defender of animals" and convened a working table in August 2013 in Congress).
